Vacation Fun Now Time to Sew

I have been out for awhile since I was packing for vacation, on vacation, and then a day recovery from vacation and now I really have the itch to start sewing.  So no real sewing updates.  Hopefully I will have a quilt done over the weekend!

No real sewing update but some pretty pictures from my week.

Last week we spent the week in the Smokey Mountains at this place.

Looking at this view-both of those were taken from the deck off the bedroom.
Taking some really long hikes and saw some beautiful landscape and waterfalls

Went zip lining for the first time ever and then did whitewater rafting. Ziplining was a blast!

Took this photo because I loved the colors and told my hubby it would make a pretty quilt.  Not sure he saw my vision but totally agreed with me.

On our way home we drove through this storm in Chicago!  It poured!

Took hundreds of pictures and haven't gone through them all not to mention my youngest is a shutter bug as well.

We had a great time and now sad vacation is over but so happy to be home and looking forward to our summer fun weekends hanging out at the lake too!  Feeling very relaxed and blessed to be able to do the things we did.  If you are going to the Smokey Mountains, I totally recommend a cabin.  It was a great way to end the day each day.

Now back to the badger quilt! I am going to try to finish this one in the next two weeks!  Not sure if it is possible but I am will to give it a try!

If you made it till the end - thank you for reading my recap!

Lovely Month of Finishes - June

So for the month of June my plan is to get this Badger Quilt for Sam into a flimsy.

We are on vacation this month and won't have as much time to sew so I am going to try and keep this realistic.

The pile on the right is 9 rows ready and then the other pile I still have 13 strip sets to sew and cut up and put into rows.  I did try to make the pieces bigger this time in hopes to make this quilt up a little more quickly than my previous 2.5 inch squares.  They are bigger but doesn't seem to be faster.  This is going to fit a full size bed very comfortablely. I usually make it to just fit and then forget about the shrinkage in quilting and washing!

I am really liking this one and Sam knows its a Badger quilt but not the pattern and he can't figure it out even though I am sewing it right in front of him.  Love that!  I also found some fun novelty fabric (not Badger) for the back as he is into photography at the moment and he loves that it would be something he is liking right now.  So I may need to go pick that up in July!

I am linking up for a Lovely Year of Finishes.
