Yeah, I finished this kids charity quilt over the weekend. I had the 6.5 squares along with some yardage saved away for one of my boys and never did make anything with it but when Margaret's Hope Chest was looking for quilts I decided I needed to make something right away. Pulled it out and started sewing. This is finish number 3 for 2014 and no new fabric needed!
I pieced the back with the yardage in the box. There was also enough for the binding.
Close up of the quilting. I did loops with an orange thread.
I am calling this one Happy Dance!
Fabric Used 6.5 yards

Stars and Strips
I had made a red, white and blue quilt earlier this year with the intention of donating it to QOV. Then it occurred to me I should give it directly to a someone currently servicing. So that began my goal to make each of my DS#1 friends a quilt.
Shine which I made back in March did not thrill me. I didn't really like the pattern and my sewing was so off and I made the smaller version not knowing it final destination. So I had the Ohio Stars done from 2 years ago. I had started making the mystery quilt that Bonnie Hunter does each November but just didn't have the time nor inclination to finish it. But I did finish those Ohio Stars and then they sat. I wasn't sure what to do with them but knew I needed to use them. They were alot of them, 54 total. So I went in search of inspiration. Bonnie has a lot of free patterns and found the one I wanted in Ohio Stars and Rails.
I already had the stars done, I pulled all my 2.5" strips that were already cut and the only thing I need to get was the white strips. I had the quilt done over a weekend of sewing in November.

I used fabric I had in my stash for the back including the left over stars. I quilted just a meandering again on this one and it went very quickly. I had it done in one movie on TV and then I pulled the basting stitches which went pretty quickly. I put a red scrappy binding on it.
I am so happy I finished another quilt off my Q4 Goals! I will be linking up with She Can Quilt. That gives me 3 out of 5 done! I am pretty happy with that.

Graduation Dance
I finished it. This quilt is from Quiltville and the pattern is Dancing 9-Patch. This was an attempt to use up the 2.5" squares that I have. It didn't work. This however will be a gift for a friend of my oldest son for their college graduation. He has three friends and two of them are from grade school.
I have scraps and thought well this would be fun and they won't expect it all.
Here is Aaron's. His favorite color is blue so I am pretty sure he will like it.
I made the majority of the 9 patches as lender and enders while doing Tula Pink City Sampler blocks. They were like bonus blocks!
I then had the quilt basted by a longarmer. It was nice to not have to pin it but then I did have to pull the threads. Time wise it was probably about the same amount of time. Considering that I hate basting ripping out the basting stitches could be done while watching television. I think that was a win situation.
The only fabric I bought was the back. I found it while shop hopping in November on a clearance rack. It a map of New York City. I loved it! Plus the price was right!
The quilting was just a large meandering in medium grey Aurfil thread. It went fast and had it quilted up in one night.
I still need practice in keeping my stitches even some get too large and others too small. I have to say it is fun to go through and see all the fabric from lots of different quilts over the years.
I even put a label on this one and named it. I don't really do names but this one is "Graduation Dance" and is about 72" x 86". Aaron will get his degree in Radiology so I am sure he will be happy to be done.
This quilt was part of Q4 Goals so I will link up with She Can Quilt when the time comes. I am so happy to finish this before the end of the year!
Now to get one more done before the end of the year!

A small finish
I finished this a couple weeks ago but was busy and sort of forgot about it. I really wanted to try and take some pictures with the leaves since it reminds me of autumn. I love those red leaves. Timing was not working so I was able to leave work early and could snap a couple of photos before it got dark.
We have mainly yellow leaves in our yard.
But I thought this looked pretty with the bayberry bushes!
I had won the scraps at my Moda Club meeting and they were partially sewn together so I made random blocks and then used the red from the pack we had gotten for the binding and an old beige Moda Marble for the back. I free motioned quilted the flower design from Angela Walter's book. I love the look of that design and thought it would work on here. There are some florals in the fabric. Plus it was good practice! Nice small manageable practice piece. Not sure where it will end up but has been hanging out at the table in our living room. I may gift it too so we will see.
A closer look at the quilting.
It sure is fun to have a quick cute finish.
I actually did name this quilt too! Not something I do often but I named it Autumn Day.
This measures at 24"x30"
Thanks for stopping and enjoy the weekend.

Blogger's Quilt Festival
So I have been checking out the beautiful quilts over at a Blogger's Quilt Festival and thought I would try this out. There are lots of quilts to look through and enjoy.
I thought I would enter this quilt since I just love it and just put it on the bed at the cottage. What a way to brighten up a room. I am never good at naming my quilts. I just call this one Terrain since I used a layer cake of Kate Spain's line and then added in some others from Central Park and Good Fortune as well. I also took some solids that coordinated as well. I knew I wanted this as a bed quilt and the pattern was from Moda Bake Shop and was call Ruby, Pearl, and Opal Quilt. I just kept going till I had used up all of what I had. I had this quilted at my LQS, Patched Works. I loved the daisy like flower. I put Kona butter on the back.
Finished size is 91" x 91"
I am entering this in the Bed Quilt Category.
Thanks for stopping by!

A finish - Yeah
I was so happy that I was able to get another quilt off the to do list and on the done list. On my sew day I quick finished up the last row of quilting I had to do at home since I have to FMQ on my sewing table where my machine is set in. Then I put the binding on at sew day and ended up having enough of the black lines from the Summerville line. I was worried because at first I could not find the fabric and I had used some of it in another quilt and my LQS no longer had that one color left. But I kept looking in the piles of fabric and you never know what you will find!
I started this quilt back in August. I had bought a layer cake and was going to do a simple patchwork quilt with 2.5 in squares and then I had seen over at Camille Roskelley site where she sashed the blocks in white. So that is exactly how I did mine. I also wanted to try out the dogwood quilting design from Oh Fransson as well. I loved doing this design and I loved the outcome on the quilt.
Here is a picture of the back I love the effect of this quilting. I even had messed the line up on a few but even I could not see them with a quick glance and overall still looks good to me! Love it! I just need to throw it in the wash next.
This quilt was immediately taken over by my youngest and it was tested by using it for a nap. It worked! My poor husband wants to know why DS#2 gets every quilt I make?!
So happy to be done with Quilt #2 on my list of Quilt Goals for the Finish Along!

Finish it up Friday
I did finally make a small finish last night. I have wanted to make 2 binder covers for my quilt groups I go to at my LQS. I did get one of the two done. I had this fabric selected and in a nice stack since last year. I still like it but need to get it made before I forgot what I wanted to do.
I should have taken a photo of the back too. I just did string piecing in the back.
Here are the other things that were done in January and linking up at Lily's Quilts for Fresh Sew day.
1. Some scrap vomit blocks
2. Easy Street Block A's
3. Finished Wiggly Whimsy read about it here.
4. Summerville - waiting to be quilted.
What I need to do is figure out the mosaics. I start but somehow something doesn't work for me and I just don't take the time to stay after it. Technical difficulties are not my strong point. I thought I had it but just no go.
I need to get going on some more finishes for Quarter one too. I think I am going to try A Lovely Year of Finishes and Tracy Jae, just three. So we will see how that goes.

WIP-#4
I am using the Wednesday WIP to keep myself on task and the goal is to post each week. So that means I need to sew each week. Some weeks that will be tough since I work full-time, travel for work, and a HS kid. But it also keeps me in check to be sure to crave out some time for me since I am happier when I get to sew. On with the progress:
1. Finished my solids Wiggly Whimsy quilt. Read all the details here.
2. I did get the back done to the Summerville patchwork. Now just need to quilt it.
3. I did get out the hexies and stitched a few watching TV last night. I just didn't have the energy to sew last night! I bought some Noteworthy 2.5 charms to stitch into hexies and did a few of those too. I am also working on the Hexie MF from I'm a Ginger Monkey (Fat Quarterly). I had not sew one since last summer! I need to get more done. Totally bad picture but you get the idea.
My next new start is a block of the month through my LQS. I am in a monthly Moda club which is always fun. I did pick one of the lines that the shop choose but thought I would start with my stash and supplement as needed. I am thinking it is going to have a dark blue with fun colors I like that go with it and then a background/light fabric. We get patterns/instructions for three blocks but only need to make one. Not sure if I will make all three or just the one. I am hoping to keep up monthly with this. Here is the fabric for the first block. I think of course I could change my mind yet!
My other WIP's for Q1
1. Easy Street-no progress
2. Civil War sampler - some quilting done but lots to go yet.
3. Only made one journal cover for a swap - have 5 to make and 2 binder covers yet too!
Thanks for stopping by and I love to hear from you too! Linking up with WIP Wednesday!

First Finish for 2013
I am so glad to have finally finished something! I worked on piecing up the back, quilting it, and put on the binding all yesterday afternoon. I really thought I would be able to finish a second one but it wasn't in the cards. It just takes longer than I think it will.
This is my first finish for 2013 and one of the quilts I listed on the Q1 finish along. I quilted it in white Aurifill thread. I love this thread! I did free motion squares. I really like this pattern and had done this on an I Spy quilt last year that I gave away. The binding was a Dear Stella print that I just bought at the quilt store. I love that fabric line with the pretty oranges and pinks.
This quilt got a high 5 from the teenager. He liked the quilting, the binding and the back. He really is fun to get feedback from and he likes everything I make but definitely and his favorites. So I will be able to do show and tell and my two meetings this month too.
Hopefully, I will have another finish soon with the Summerville patchwork. I managed to make the back and sandwich it. Now to figure out what to quilt on it.
I have made progress on the Civil War sampler but that is taking some time for sure!

A list of WIP
I am committing to finishing some things and doing the finish along as well. As I was pulling things out of the cabinets I found a few other things as well but not sure that I even want to work on those so they will just stay where they are for now. Here is the run down for 2013:
To be Quilted
Moda Bake shop pattern with all solids. Used a Kona charm pack and I think it was the new colors and Kona White. I just finished the blocks over the weekend. This will be my first all solids project and I am pretty one of my boys will like this one.
1 Swoon block.- I really want to make this quilt. I know it seems like everyone made one. I have not committed to the whole quilt but just finish this block. I bought the pattern and fabric while I was at a retreat and when they say you need to be careful cutting, they meant it. I bought two fat quarters - love the lime green and grey. I cut it wrong, of course, called the quilt shop and they sent me the one I messed up. That was November! Well I thought I would just put this one together, and oh yeah, cut the other fabric wrong too! Really! I cut it 5.5 instead of 6.5. Now it is January and they were out of the fabric but the store owner checked her stash and had enough for me to finish and sent it to me for free! Can you believe that? She said just bring it in when I finish it! So that was an easy request. We'll see if I make a block two.
Easy Street from Quiltville's mystery quilt. The last 2 steps were revealed and I love it! I am anxious to get some blocks together on this one. I am caught up on all of the steps so it is now just assembling the blocks.
Cut and really want to start sewing:
The scrap vomit quilt! I have lots of squares cut did a couple of swaps since my own fabric seems to get boring after a while and picked two different centers. The pink looks more red in the picture (Kona Pomegranate) and then green (pea pod). Really want to start this one!
I am hoping to stay on task and get a few things done early in the year since of course I have a few things on the list I don't want to start until something gets done. And of course this doesn't include any of the cool things I will find along the way either.
Linking up at Freshly Pieced! Have a good week and thanks for stopping.
To be Quilted
This one is layered and ready to go. I started this one in 2010 using all stash civil war fabric and spent 2011 practicing FMQ. Hopefully, this turns out as I hope it does in my head. I have a plan I just need to start it.
This one is not layered yet and I need to get a back for it. I don't think I have anything that will really work in my stash for it. I started this one in September and should be good to get it done sooner than later.

It was a Very Merry Christmas
We had such a great couple of days. Not too much running around, definitely a lot of cooking! Here is a picture of just the four of us. I have taken a picture of us in front of the tree with the auto shoot for years. And yes I am the one running into the photo so there were several takes to get one that looked okay. We were laughing through it.
Here are my boys with their great-grandma!
Here is the quilt I made her! She loved it. I quilted loopy-loops in it. The close ups didn't really turn out. I think better photos are needed for 2013!
So onto the update for Easy Street! I have made lots of progress, not totally caught up but getting there. I am going to sew yet tonight so I should get a little closer. I still need to do 40 flying geese from step 2!
There they are ready to go!
Here are all the pieces I have done in the project box. I just have to do the 64 geese with the teal. I really wanted to be totally caught up by today. I should have some time yet tonight and then tomorrow.
Tomorrow night is the DS #2's 16th birthday. So a few errands and the family over for pizzas. This time we are doing carry out. All I need to make is garlic bread. That I can handle!
Well thank you if you made it to the end of this post. I am tired from just writing it!! I am linking up at Easy Street at Quiltville making it just under the wire. Can't wait till the next step revealed tomorrow!

Friday Finishes
I finished the t-shirt quilt for my oldest son. I had planned on making him one for a long time so when he cleaned out his room when he was leaving for college I stacked all those t-shirts up and there they sat. He is in his junior year at college and thought I better get this done. So I cut and interfaced a lot of shirts! I had over 30 and used most of them.
He made sure all of the ones he wanted were in it and that each year of High School was represented in the quilt. You will notice that there are clumps of color together. Well, I had laid this one out distributing the color asked him what he thought and rearranging he went. The shirts front and backs had to be next to each other. So I put it together as requested.
I thought I would send it out to have it long armed but really didn't want to spend the money so I decided I would quilt it. I found the design after spending some time over at Leah Day's Blog. Lots of ideas and videos of how to do it. I also thought tackling this one block by one block would be helpful. I liked the way it turned out. Still need to work on staying on the same stitching line and lining up my stitches when I start and stop. They always seems to jar off. But you I am getting better each time I do it and once you stand back and look at it. it looks pretty darn good!
Recently, I had just finished a quilt for our bed at our cottage. The room has all paneling (hate it) so this definitely will brighten the room up. I started it back in March at a retreat. The pattern was from Moda Bake Shop and was call Ruby, Pearl, and Opal Quilt. I had this quilted at my LQS. I loved the daisy like flower. I put Kona butter on the back. I had picket up a layer cake of Terrain by Kate Spain and then a few pieces of what I could find along with some Good Fortune as well. When I decided I wanted it bigger I added the solids in as well. I am not real good an keeping fabric colors or names of what I use. If I like it I buy it and use it. I love the bright colors in this one for sure.

Let's hope I can get another quilt finished this weekend! I have linked up for the first time at both places!
Can I get a Whoop-Whoop?
